Pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension. It can complement other forms of exercise by developing whole-body strength and flexibility and help reduce the risk of injury.
When our core is strong, the frame of the body is supported. Our neck and shoulders can relax, and the rest of our muscles and joints are free to do their jobs rather than overdoing it.
Good posture is a reflection of good alignment that is supported by a strong core. It is a position from which one can move freely.
There are a number of muscles that make up the “core” and include deep abdominal and back muscles as well as the pelvic floor. These muscles need to be strong to enable us to have good posture and movement.
